Electronic CI Jam is a fusion of contact improvisation and the world of electronic sound. We curate soundscapes that support both slow and dynamic movement, yet you don't need to follow a rhythm of music, as the rhythm for the dance emerges through listening to other moving bodies. 

 

At its core, contact improvisation is based on sharing the weight of bodies, listening to one another as we move, and utilizing physical principles such as gravity, momentum and touch. The electronic soundscape creates an immersive atmosphere that fosters a playful, compositional, and hypnotic dance space. Movement can also take place without physical contact.

Our jam unfolds as a sonic journey, beginning with a slow buildup, transitioning into a rhythmic flow, and concluding with a more relaxed final hour. The jam can be also a place for a collective moment of rest and deep listening.

For us, electronic music is a good companion for contact improvisation, it works at the molecular and atomic level and enables different dynamics in dance, and does not impose strong emotional content into the dance. It can either be explored in depth or left behind as an atmosphere.
